GHMC Recovers, Re-Installs Stolen Litter Bins on Kacheguda Station Road
Cities put trash cans, called litter bins, on streets so people can throw away rubbish.
Some litter bins on a busy road in Hyderabad, India, went missing.
A newspaper called the Deccan Chronicle wrote about bins being damaged or misused.
City workers from GHMC went to check what had happened.
They found the bins with a shopkeeper, far away from where they should be.
The bins had a frame with them that belonged to the city.
So the workers took the bins back and put them in their original spot where everyone can use them.
The city told its cleaning staff to take care of the bins and to act quickly if this ever happens again.
GHMC recovered litter bins that were found with a shopkeeper on Kacheguda Station Road in Hyderabad.
The recovery followed an inspection prompted by a Deccan Chronicle report published on August 6 on alleged damage and misuse of GHMC litter bins.
Officials found the bins away from their designated location, along with their supporting frame, which the corporation said was GHMC property.
The bins were re-installed at their original, publicly accessible location on Kacheguda Station Road.
GHMC instructed sanitation staff to keep the bins properly maintained and to take immediate action if similar incidents occur again.
