Polymarket to Return to US Market with QCX Acquisition
Imagine a website where people bet on things like who will win the next election.
Polymarket is one such site.
After some issues with the government, Polymarket is coming back to the US by buying another company called QCX.
The government investigated if Polymarket was letting US users bet even though it wasn't supposed to.
Now that the investigations are over, Polymarket is paying a lot of money to get back in the game.
Also, the person who might become the new head of the government agency that watches over these types of betting sites is a person who is very familiar with the business.
Polymarket, a crypto-betting platform, is set to return to the US market.
The platform will acquire QCX, a derivatives exchange and clearinghouse company.
This move follows the closure of investigations by the Justice Department and CFTC.
Polymarket will pay $112 million to acquire QCX.
Brian Quintenz is nominated to lead the CFTC.
