Kotak Private Launches India's First Luxury Index
Kotak Private Banking has created a special tool called the Kotak Private Luxury Index (KPLI).
This tool helps track how much prices change for fancy things that very rich people in India buy.
These things include nice houses, fancy bags, watches, trips, and even school tuition.
The index shows that over the last three years, prices for these luxury items have gone up by 22%.
Some things, like health retreats and special experiences, have become more popular and expensive.
Other things, like watches and wine, have become cheaper.
This index helps people understand what rich people in India value and how they spend their money.
It shows that luxury is now more about having good experiences and taking care of health rather than just owning expensive things.
Kotak Private Banking launched the Kotak Private Luxury Index (KPLI) to track price movements across 12 luxury categories.
The index shows a 22% increase in luxury prices since 2022, with categories like luxury real estate and designer handbags outperforming benchmark equity indices.
Wellness and exclusive experiences have seen significant growth, reflecting a shift towards mindful living and unique experiences.
Luxury watches and fine wines have seen corrections, indicating shifting priorities among ultra-high-net-worth individuals (UHNIs).
The KPLI is designed to serve as a cultural and economic signal, helping investors, brands, and advisors understand trends in the luxury market.
