Trump Rejects Iran Strait Proposal Over Deal Sequencing

Iran suggested a seven-day plan to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.

The plan also included restarting talks about Iran’s nuclear program.

Iran wanted the U.S. naval blockade lifted and sanctions ended.

President Donald Trump rejected the proposal.

Trump said Iran wanted the strait reopened immediately because it was losing the war badly.

A source familiar with the talks said the main disagreement was about which steps should happen first.

Qatar helped pass the U.S. response to Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.

Araghchi was expected to review the response in Tehran.

He said Iran was ready for diplomacy but also prepared to continue the war.
