Ukraine Seeks $44 Billion from Russia for War-Time Emissions
Ukraine wants Russia to pay $44 billion for making the climate worse during the war.
They say Russia's use of fossil fuels, cement, and steel, plus forest fires, have caused a lot of extra pollution.
Ukraine will ask for this money through a special process set up by a group called the Council of Europe.
We don't know yet where this money will come from, but some people suggest using frozen Russian assets.
Ukraine plans to claim $44 billion from Russia for increased emissions due to the war
This is the first time a country is seeking damages for war-induced emissions
