Janmashtami 2026 Puja Samagri: Complete Home Krishna Worship Checklist
Janmashtami celebrates the birth of Lord Krishna.
Many families worship Krishna at home around midnight.
They may place a Krishna idol on a clean altar or in a small cradle.
The idol can be dressed with special clothes, a crown, a peacock feather and a flute.
Families may bathe the idol using milk, curd, honey, ghee and sugar in a mixture called Panchamrit.
They also use lamps, flowers, incense and other prayer items.
Food offerings can include butter with mishri, fruits, sweets and dhaniya panjiri.
People do not need every item because family and regional traditions are different.
Janmashtami 2026 is being observed on Friday, September 4, with many devotees planning midnight Krishna worship.
The suggested checklist includes a Krishna idol, altar cloth, chowki, jhula, poshak, mukut, peacock feather and bansuri.
Abhishek materials commonly include milk, curd, honey, ghee, sugar or mishri, clean water and Gangajal.
Puja and aarti supplies include chandan, roli, kumkum, akshat, moli, diyas, wicks, incense, camphor, a bell and a puja thali.
Common bhog items include makhan-mishri, Tulsi leaves, fruits, dhaniya panjiri, dry fruits and milk-based sweets, though practices vary by family and region.
