IEX Stock in Focus as Market Coupling Process Initiated
Imagine a marketplace for electricity, like a stock market.
Right now, one company called IEX handles most of the trading.
The government wants to change how this works by 'coupling' different electricity markets.
This means they'll link them up to find the best prices and make sure everyone gets electricity fairly.
This change could mean more companies get involved and that prices and the way electricity is sent around the country will improve.
IEX is checking how these changes will affect them.
IEX shares are in focus after the CERC order on market coupling.
The CERC plans to implement market coupling in phases, starting with the Day-Ahead Market by January 2026.
Power exchanges will rotate as Market Coupling Operators (MCOs), with Grid-India as a backup.
Market coupling may reduce IEX's market share, which is currently around 90% of Indian power exchange trading.
IEX is assessing the impact of the regulatory changes.
