Karnataka High Court Overturns Gag Order on Online Media Channel
A court had told a news channel, Kudla Rampage, it couldn't share stories about the Dharmasthala case.
The channel appealed to a higher court, the Karnataka High Court.
The High Court disagreed with the first court, saying its order wasn't well-explained and was too broad.
The High Court lifted the order, allowing the channel to report on the case and sent it back to the lower court for another look.
Karnataka High Court quashed a gag order on Kudla Rampage regarding reports on the Dharmasthala case.
The gag order, issued by a lower court, had restricted publication of content related to the Dharmasthala mass burial case.
The High Court stated the lower court's order lacked sufficient reasoning and was overly broad.
The initial order was based on a petition by Harshendra Kumar, brother of BJP MP D Veerendra Heggade.
The High Court remanded the matter back to the lower court for a fresh hearing.
