EC Trains Micro Observers for Unmapped Voters in Bengal
The Election Commission in India has trained around 3,500 central government officers to be micro-observers.
These officers will check the documents of people who are not yet linked to the electoral rolls, called unmapped voters.
They will work at 3,234 hearing centers in Bengal.
The goal is to make sure everyone on the voter list is valid.
The EC will use the reports from these observers to prepare the final list of voters.
This process is important to ensure fair elections.
The observers will also check for any mistakes or discrepancies in the voter documents.
The final list will be published on February 14, 2025.
The EC has also developed special software to help with this process.
Voters might need to show different documents to prove they are eligible to vote.
