BMC Approves Capri Global's SevenHills Hospital Takeover

BMC Approves Capri Global's SevenHills Hospital Takeover

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has approved Capri Global's takeover of SevenHills Hospital in Mumbai.

This decision allows Capri Global to run the hospital under a public-private partnership (PPP) model for 30 years, with an option to extend for another 30 years.

The hospital, which has 1,500 beds, will reserve 20% of its beds and outpatient services for BMC patients at subsidized rates.

While the BMC and Capri Global support this move to revive the hospital, opposition parties like Shiv Sena (UBT) and Congress have raised concerns about procedural lapses and the need for private participation.

The hospital, which played a crucial role during the Covid-19 pandemic, will continue to provide affordable healthcare to the public.
