Amit Shah Likely to Visit Manipur in October Amid Tensions
Amit Shah may travel to Manipur in October, but officials have not chosen a date.
Manipur’s chief minister shared the news after a cabinet meeting.
The state has seen renewed violence between Naga and Kuki-Zo communities.
The report says more than 50 people from both sides have died since March.
Groups and lawmakers from both communities have asked Shah for help and protection.
Each side has blamed armed groups from the other community for killings.
These tensions are happening alongside the still-unresolved conflict between Meiteis and Kuki-Zos.
The visit is being considered as Manipur faces a fragile security situation.
Manipur Chief Minister Y. Khemchand Singh said Amit Shah is likely to visit the state in October, but no date has been set.
Shah last visited Manipur on April 15, 2024, before the state’s two-phase Lok Sabha elections.
Fresh hostilities between Naga and Kuki-Zo communities have killed more than 50 people since March, according to the report.
Organisations and MLAs from both communities have asked Shah to address escalating violence, particularly in hill districts.
The tensions add to the fragile security situation amid the unresolved Meitei-Kuki-Zo conflict.
