Nepal Flash Floods Spur Comparisons With Hollywood’s 2012

Severe floods hit parts of Nepal on August 26.

Videos showed powerful water rushing through Himalayan communities.

Some people online said the scenes looked like a flood in the movie 2012.

That movie shows a giant wave overwhelming the Himalayas.

The similarity is only visual, and there is no evidence that the movie predicted the floods.

Early information linked the disaster to a magnitude 4.4 earthquake in Tibetan territory.

The earthquake may have caused an avalanche or landslide.

Nepal’s disaster authority said a snow-rock landslide caused a glacier-inclusive flood in the Lhende River.
