Car Crashes Into Newcastle Knights Fans, Injuring Ten

Fans gathered in Newcastle to wave goodbye to the Knights team bus before a big rugby game.

A car went into the crowd on Saturday morning.

Most reports said ten people were hurt, although one report said at least nine.

A five-year-old girl and a 67-year-old man were critically injured.

The other eight injured people were reported to be stable.

Police arrested the 18-year-old driver and are investigating what happened.

The mayor said the driver appeared to lose control while revving the car.

Police said the crash was not believed to be related to terrorism.

The road was closed, and the team’s procession was sent along a different route.
