redBus Sees 17% Surge in Bookings Amid IndiGo Disruptions
redBus, a company that helps people book bus tickets, saw a big increase in bookings.
This happened because many people who usually fly with IndiGo, a big airline, had their flights cancelled.
So, they decided to travel by bus instead.
The bus routes that connect big cities like Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Bangalore saw the most increase in bookings.
Bus fares also went up because more people wanted to book tickets.
Meanwhile, the government told IndiGo to reduce its flights by 10% to fix the problems they were having.
IndiGo has been cancelling many flights, which has left many passengers stranded.
The government is also making sure that IndiGo gives refunds to affected passengers and returns their lost baggage.
redBus saw a 17% increase in bus seat bookings from December 5-8, 2025, compared to December 1-4, due to IndiGo's flight disruptions.
Major bus routes like Pune-Hyderabad, Mumbai-Hyderabad, and Mumbai-Bangalore saw over a 30% increase in seat bookings.
Bus fares increased by an average of 25% due to the surge in demand, with an 18% increase in inventory addition on the redBus platform.
The government ordered IndiGo to reduce its operations by 10% to stabilize the situation amid ongoing disruptions and flight cancellations.
IndiGo cancelled over 400 flights on Tuesday, with Delhi and Bengaluru being the worst affected, and has completed 100% of refunds for flights affected till December 6.
