Delhi High Court Allows Club Officers to Retrieve Belongings
The Central Secretariat Club was evicted from its premises in the President’s Estate area.
The club asked the Delhi High Court if its representatives could return to collect belongings and documents.
The court said two club officers may visit the premises.
They must first give the authorities a list of the things they want to collect.
The authorities were directed to help arrange the collection.
The club is also challenging the decisions that ended its recognition and ordered it to leave.
The club says those decisions were unfair and unlawful.
The court has not, in this order, decided the main challenge.
The Delhi High Court permitted two Central Secretariat Club office bearers to collect belongings and other items from the club premises.
Justice Amit Mahajan directed central government authorities to facilitate the collection.
The officers must first provide the authorities with a list of items after visiting the property.
The club’s management sought access to retrieve belongings and documents during a hearing on October 7.
The club is challenging the withdrawal of its recognition and a subsequent eviction order, which it alleges were unlawful.
