Cognizant Cuts 2026 Outlook, Shares Surge Amid Demand Gloom
Cognizant is a big computer‑help company that helps other businesses use technology.
In its latest earnings report, it said it made a little more money than last year, but it expects slower growth next year because many companies are waiting before spending on new tech.
Even though the outlook is lower, the company’s stock jumped a lot because investors liked how it handled the tough market.
The company’s leaders say that new artificial‑intelligence tools will help it grow in the long run, even though right now people are being careful with their budgets.
Other big tech‑service firms like TCS and Infosys also said they expect slower growth, showing that the whole industry is feeling the same uncertainty.
Cognizant lowered its 2026 growth outlook to 5.9% from 7.3% due to cautious demand.
Q2 revenue reached $5.48 billion, up 1.3% sequentially, slightly below estimates; net profit fell 3.9% to $636 million.
Shares rose 11% after earnings, outperforming peers Tata Consultancy Services and Infosys.
Management highlighted AI as a long‑term growth driver despite short‑term demand uncertainty.
Competitors TCS and Infosys also trimmed guidance, reflecting a broader slowdown in IT services.
