Cambridge University to Advance Dravidian Studies with Endowment
A couple, Sabarisan Vedamurthy and Senthamarai Stalin, are giving money to Cambridge University.
This money will create a special program to study the history and politics of the Dravidian movement in South India.
The program is named after M. Karunanidhi, a leader known for his work on social justice.
This will help students from all over the world learn about how the Dravidian movement changed Tamil Nadu.
The goal is to understand how the movement helped people and what lessons it offers for the world.
The scholarships will also support students from less privileged backgrounds, ensuring wider access to education.
A philanthropic gift from Sabarisan Vedamurthy and Senthamarai Stalin will fund Dravidian studies at Cambridge.
The gift will establish the M. Karunanidhi PhD Studentship for research on Dravidian history and politics.
The scholarship honors M. Karunanidhi and his commitment to social justice and educational access.
The initiative aims to promote global understanding of Tamil Nadu's development.
The studentship will prioritize students from disadvantaged backgrounds.
