Central Govt. NPS Retirees Eligible for Additional Pension Benefits
The government is giving extra pension help to retired government workers who were part of the National Pension System (NPS).
If you retired by March 31, 2025, and worked at least 10 years, you might get extra money.
This includes a one-time payment, more money each month, and interest on any delayed payments.
This extra money is on top of what they already get.
The new plan guarantees a certain pension amount.
If their NPS pension is too low, the government will pay more each month to reach the guaranteed amount.
The retirees or their spouses need to apply by June 30, 2025, to receive the benefits.
Central government NPS retirees with at least 10 years of service can claim additional benefits under the Unified Pension Scheme (UPS).
Eligible retirees include those retiring on or before March 31, 2025, and their spouses, if the subscriber is deceased.
Benefits include a lump sum payment, monthly top-up pension, and interest on arrears, in addition to existing NPS payouts.
UPS guarantees a fixed pension, addressing the variable nature of NPS payouts.
