Delhi Tightens Security Ahead of CJP Electoral Rolls Protest

The Cockroach Janata Party and student groups plan to hold a protest at Jantar Mantar in Delhi on October 10.

They want Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar to resign.

They say the updating of voter lists may have caused problems, including people being left off the lists.

The Election Commission says the exercise is meant to make voter lists more accurate.

Police denied permission for the planned protest, and the party’s founder criticised the restrictions.

Delhi prepared for the event with a large security deployment and planned Metro station closures.

The Supreme Court said Metro trains should not be stopped completely.

Some schools, colleges and travel services were also disrupted.
