Western Railway Expands OTP-Based Tatkal Booking
Western Railway has made a big change to how people book last-minute train tickets, called Tatkal tickets.
Now, you have to check your phone for a special code before you can buy the ticket.
This code is sent to the phone number you give when booking.
The railway is doing this to stop people from booking too many tickets at once and to make sure everyone has a fair chance.
This rule is now being used on more trains, starting from December 24, 2025.
You can book these tickets at the train station, through travel agents, or on the Indian Railways website and app.
Just remember to give a working phone number so you can get the code!
Western Railway introduces mandatory OTP authentication for Tatkal bookings to prevent misuse.
OTP-based system extended to four additional trains effective December 24, 2025.
Affected trains include Bandra Terminus–Shri Ganganagar Express, Bandra Terminus–Barauni Express, Ahmedabad–Saharsa Express, and Bhuj–Bandra Terminus Express.
OTP verification applies to bookings made through PRS counters, agents, IRCTC website, and mobile app.
Passengers advised to provide valid mobile numbers to avoid issues during OTP verification.
