One in Four Voters May Get Election Commission Notices

The Election Commission of India keeps a big list of everyone who is allowed to vote.

Before big elections, it checks and updates this list.

During the latest check, it found mistakes, called anomalies, in many forms.

About one in four voters might get a letter about these mistakes.

The letter will ask them to check the draft voters' list published on August 17.

The mistakes were found in more than 20 out of every 100 forms in most areas.

One place called Wanaparthy had the most mistakes, at 28 per cent.

Experts think most mistakes happened when names written in Telugu were changed into English by computer programs.

That means many voters may not have done anything wrong.

Everyone should check the draft list to make sure their name is correct.
