Ahmedabad Installs Hundreds of Speed Bumps to Enhance Road Safety
Imagine roads are like hallways, and speed bumps are like little hurdles to make sure people walk slowly.
Over the last two years, Ahmedabad put up many more speed bumps, especially in the western part of the city.
This is because people wanted to make roads safer.
The city used to say no to speed bumps, but now they're saying yes more often.
The bumps are designed a certain way and go near places like schools and hospitals.
Some people in the eastern part of the city feel they aren't getting enough speed bumps, and they are worried about accidents.
The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) approved 339 speed breakers between January 2024 and May 2025.
Most speed breakers were installed in western Ahmedabad, based on requests from residents.
The AMC approved 257 speed breakers in western zones compared to 82 in the east.
Speed breakers are constructed to address speeding and accidents, especially near schools and public spaces.
Standardized design for speed bumps has been finalized by AMC with specific guidelines.
