EPF Scheme 2026: 25% Minimum Balance Rule
The new EPF Scheme 2026 says that if you want to take out some money from your EPF account while you're still working, you have to keep at least 25% of your total savings in the account.
This is called the minimum balance.
The rest, which is called the eligible member balance, is what you can take out for things like medical treatment, education, or buying a house.
When you retire or can't work anymore, you can take out all your money.
This new rule is to make sure people don't take out too much money and still have savings when they retire.
EPF members must retain 25% of their balance for partial withdrawals under the new scheme.
Eligible member balance is the amount available for withdrawal after deducting the minimum balance.
Withdrawals are categorized into medical, education, marriage, housing, and other purposes.
The minimum balance requirement does not apply to final settlement claims like retirement.
The new scheme simplifies the withdrawal framework compared to the earlier 1952 scheme.
