Bangladeshi National Jailed 8 Years for Rape in India
A man from Bangladesh named Joshim was found guilty of rape by a court in India and will go to jail for 8 years.
He was accused of hurting two young girls who were brought from Bangladesh.
The court also said that his wife and another person, who were also from Bangladesh, had to go to jail for 5 years because they were living in India without permission.
All three will be sent back to Bangladesh after they finish their jail time.
However, five other people who were accused of being part of a prostitution ring using the girls were let go because the evidence against them was not strong enough.
The court could not prove that the girls were minors for the child sex abuse charges, so Joshim was only convicted of rape.
A Bangladeshi national, Joshim Sobur Mulla, has been sentenced to eight years in prison by a court in Thane, Maharashtra, for rape.
Mulla was accused of raping two minor girls trafficked from Bangladesh, who were rescued by police in 2017.
Mulla's wife and another individual received a 5-year sentence for illegally staying in India.
The court did not convict Mulla under the POCSO Act due to insufficient proof of the victims' age.
Five other individuals accused of involvement in a prostitution racket exploiting the survivors were acquitted due to weak evidence.
