Tesla Faces California Trial Over Racial Harassment, Unequal Pay

Tesla Faces California Trial Over Racial Harassment, Unequal Pay

Tesla is going to court in California because a state agency says some workers were treated unfairly because of their race.

The agency says African-origin workers at Tesla’s Fremont factory faced racial insults and racist graffiti.

It also says these workers were paid less and had fewer chances to get promoted.

The agency claims Tesla did not do enough to stop or address the behavior.

Tesla says the accusations are not true and that it does not allow discrimination.

The company says it has fired workers who were found responsible for misconduct.

A judge, rather than a jury, will decide what happened under California law.

If Tesla loses, it could have to pay many millions of dollars.

The case is part of several racial-discrimination lawsuits involving Tesla.
