Auto LPG Coalition Seeks Five-Year Extension for Commercial Vehicles

Auto LPG Coalition Seeks Five-Year Extension for Commercial Vehicles

The government is considering allowing some commercial vehicles to remain in service for five extra years.

The current proposal covers electric, hydrogen-powered and natural-gas vehicles.

The Indian Auto LPG Coalition wants vehicles using Auto LPG to receive the same opportunity.

It says these vehicles should qualify only if they are safe, fit and meet emission rules.

The coalition believes policies should consider all cleaner transport technologies fairly.

It says converting suitable petrol vehicles could reduce pollution without replacing every vehicle immediately.

Electric and hydrogen vehicles may become more important over time, while Auto LPG could help some fleets sooner.

The government has not yet been reported as accepting or rejecting the coalition’s request.
