Karnataka High Court Quashes Suryanagar Phase IV Land Acquisition

The Karnataka Housing Board wanted to acquire land for a large housing project called Suryanagar Phase IV.

The project covered about 1,938 acres in Anekal taluk.

The Karnataka High Court stopped the land acquisition process.

The court said the area is environmentally sensitive and connected to Bannerghatta National Park.

It also said the land is important for elephants moving between habitats.

The judges felt that the possible effects on nature and wildlife had not been properly studied.

The court said the need for housing must be balanced with protecting the environment.

Therefore, it cancelled the entire acquisition process.
