Maharashtra Launches Food Safety Drive for Diwali
Diwali is coming up, and the Maharashtra government wants to make sure the sweets and other treats are safe to eat.
The Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) is doing this.
They're checking sweet shops and other places that sell food to make sure the food isn't mixed with things that shouldn't be there, a process called adulteration.
Officials have already inspected many shops and collected food samples for testing.
This safety drive aims to make sure everyone has a happy and healthy Diwali.
Maharashtra FDA launched a food safety campaign.
The campaign is titled 'Festival of Maharashtra – Commitment to Food Safety'.
Inspections are happening ahead of Diwali.
1,594 sweet shops have been inspected.
2,369 food samples were collected for analysis.
