Pune Faces Water Shutdown and School Closures on January 21, 2026
On January 21, 2026, there will be no water in many parts of Pune because the city needs to fix the main water pipe.
The next day, water will come late and not be very strong.
The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has asked people to save some water before the shutdown.
Also, schools in the Pune Cantonment area will be closed that day because of a big bike race called the Pune Grand Tour.
The race will go through important roads in the Cantonment area, so schools need to be closed for safety.
This is not the first time this has happened.
In December, there was also a water shutdown for maintenance work, and many other areas were affected then.
PMC announces complete water shutdown on January 21, 2026, due to pipeline maintenance.
Affected areas include Kalas, Malwadi, Jadhav Vasti, Ganeshnagar (Bopkhel), parts of Vishrantwadi, Mhaske Vasti, Sanjay Park, Barmashell, Airport area and surrounding localities.
Water supply will resume late and at low pressure on January 22, 2026.
PMC had previously scheduled a water cut in December 2025 for maintenance work.
Residents are advised to store sufficient water in advance and plan accordingly.
Schools in Pune Cantonment to remain closed on January 21 for Pune Grand Tour Stage 2.
The holiday applies only to schools in the Cantonment area, not to colleges.
Stage 2 of the Pune Grand Tour spans 109 kilometres with an elevation profile of 1,466 metres.
