Kovalam Beach Secures Fifth Consecutive Blue Flag Certification
Kovalam Beach has earned a special international award called the Blue Flag for the fifth year in a row!
This award is like a gold star for beaches that are super clean, safe, and good for the environment.
To get it, beaches have to meet 33 very strict rules about things like water cleanliness, how they handle trash, and if they have safe places for people to swim and relax.
Kovalam Beach also has special things like bamboo shades, comfortable chairs, and even floating wheelchairs so everyone can enjoy it.
It's so popular that over half a million people visited last year!
The government is happy about this and wants other beaches in Tamil Nadu to get this award too.
Kovalam Beach in Chengalpattu district has received the International Blue Flag Certification for the fifth consecutive year.
The certification is awarded by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) in Denmark for sustainable tourism and a healthy blue economy.
Beaches must meet 33 global standards related to water quality, safety, cleanliness, and environmental practices to qualify.
Kovalam Beach was first certified in September 2021 and has been re-certified annually after rigorous inspections.
