Madhya Pradesh Urban Bodies Plan Mass Tree Plantation for 2026
Madhya Pradesh's city governments are getting ready to plant lots of trees in 2026.
They already planted almost 3.6 million trees this year.
Now, they need to make a plan by the end of next year for planting even more trees.
They are telling the city governments to find good spots for the trees, like near schools or rivers.
They also want them to pick strong, native trees that live a long time.
The government is checking in every week to make sure everyone is getting ready to plant these trees.
Madhya Pradesh's Urban Administration Department (UAD) directed 413 urban local bodies (ULBs) to prepare for a 2026 sapling plantation drive.
ULBs must finalize their 2026 plantation action plan by December 2025.
Nearly 36 lakh saplings were planted across ULBs in Madhya Pradesh during 2025.
Nurseries from horticulture and forest departments will coordinate with ULBs for sapling availability.
Priority will be given to planting native and long-living tree species, with identification of suitable plantation zones.
