Dubai Airport Rolls Out Scanners That Keep Bags Packed
Dubai Airport is installing new machines to check passengers and their bags.
These machines create detailed 3D pictures of what is inside luggage.
This means travellers may not need to take out laptops, liquids, shoes or belts.
The airport has already tested the machines and said they worked faster and more reliably.
The new scanners are now being introduced in stages across the airport.
Upgrades are taking place in areas such as Concourse B and Terminal 1.
However, the old rules may still apply at some security checkpoints.
Travellers should follow the instructions they receive at the airport.
The airport hopes the changes will help people reach their gates more quickly.
Dubai International Airport is gradually replacing older screening equipment with next-generation CT scanners.
Once fully operational, the scanners will allow passengers to keep laptops, liquids, shoes and other items in hand luggage.
Earlier trials were described by airport officials as quicker and more reliable than conventional screening.
The rollout is taking place across the airport, including upgrades in Concourse B and Terminal 1.
The project aims to reduce queues, bottlenecks and intrusive security procedures while improving passenger flow.
