RBI Says Diversification Eases Weak Monsoon Impact on Rural India

RBI Says Diversification Eases Weak Monsoon Impact on Rural India

Rain is still important for growing crops in India.

But many rural families now earn money in other ways too.

Some work for wages, while others raise animals or produce milk, eggs, meat and fish.

These activities can help families when crops are hurt by too little rain.

The RBI found that non-farm activity stayed steadier across different rainfall conditions.

Better irrigation and crops that can handle difficult weather also help.

So a weak monsoon can still hurt farming, but it may have less effect on the wider rural economy than before.
