China's Fujian Carrier Tests Advanced Launch System
China has tested a new aircraft launch system called EMALS on its Fujian aircraft carrier.
This technology allows planes to carry more weight, fly farther, and hit harder.
The Fujian can now launch planes like the J-35, J-15T, and KJ-600.
EMALS allows fighters to strike targets at greater ranges.
It is similar to the system on the US's USS Gerald R. Ford, but the Fujian is not nuclear powered.
The Fujian is now China’s most advanced carrier.
Further trials are planned, potentially by spring next year.
This is happening while a US delegation is in Beijing to discuss military communications.
China's Fujian aircraft carrier tested the EMALS launch system.
The tests included J-35, J-15T, and KJ-600 aircraft.
EMALS enables aircraft to launch with heavier loads.
Fujian is comparable to the US's USS Gerald R. Ford.
Further trials and integration tests are planned.
