Americans Oppose Trump’s Canada Tariffs and Lake America Renaming

A new poll asked Americans what they thought about two of President Donald Trump’s decisions.

One decision raised tariffs, which are taxes on goods brought from Canada.

Only 20% supported the higher tariffs, while 57% opposed them.

Trump also ordered that Lake Ontario be called “Lake America” in United States federal use.

Only 14% supported changing the lake’s name, while 63% opposed it.

The lake can still be called Lake Ontario by Canada and international organizations.

The poll included 1,023 adults and was conducted online.

The disagreement with Canada grew after trade talks between the two countries collapsed.
