India's Crypto Tax: 30% Flat Rate, No Loss Offset
In India, the government taxes any profits you make from buying and selling cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin.
The tax rate is a flat 30%, plus a small extra tax.
You have to pay this tax even if the market is doing badly.
Also, when you sell crypto, a small percentage of the money is taken out for tax immediately.
You also pay extra fees to the crypto platforms, which the government taxes too.
If you lose money on your crypto trades, you can't use that loss to reduce the tax you pay on other income.
Indian crypto profits are taxed at a flat 30% rate, regardless of market conditions.
A 4% cess is added to the 30% tax, making the effective rate 31.2%.
1% TDS is applied to all crypto sales exceeding ₹10,000 (₹50,000 for some investors).
18% GST is levied on platform service fees, not the crypto itself.
Losses from crypto trades cannot be offset against other income or carried forward.
