Thai teen shooter learned firearms online before deadly school rampage
A very sad and scary thing happened in Thailand.
A 14-year-old boy hurt his grandparents and several people at his school, and then hurt himself.
Police are trying to understand why he did it.
They found that he had been watching violent videos on social media.
He also learned how to use a gun from social media.
The boy had been interested in guns for about one or two years.
Last year, a teacher took away an air gun he brought to school.
Eight people died and more than 20 others were hurt in the attack.
It was the worst school shooting in Thailand since 2022.
Now Thailand's education ministry wants new safety rules, like mental health checks, emergency drills, and stopping bullying.
A 14-year-old boy allegedly shot dead his grandparents at home before killing six people at his school in Thailand and turning the gun on himself.
Police said the boy had watched violent social media content and used social media to learn how to use firearms, showing interest for about one to two years.
A teacher confiscated a BB gun, a type of air gun, that the boy brought to school last year; police found no evidence he had practiced shooting.
Eight people, including the shooter, died and more than 20 others were injured in Thailand's worst mass shooting since 2022.
Thailand's Ministry of Education pledged new school safety protocols within three months, including mental health screenings, emergency drills and anti-bullying measures.
