Weapons went missing from a secure military area near Hyderabad.

The theft was discovered around 7:50 a.m.

on August 31.

Twelve weapons were reported stolen.

These included AK-203 rifles, pistols and an INSAS rifle.

More than 1,000 rounds of ammunition were also missing.

Night-vision binoculars were reportedly taken too.

Army officers are questioning a senior officer connected to one unit.

Police have questioned the officer as well, partly because armoury records were allegedly not kept for months.
