Delhi MCD Ramps Up Landfill Reclamation Efforts, Targets 2027 Completion
Delhi's government is working to clean up three large trash dumps.
They plan to remove all the old trash by 2026 or 2027.
To do this, they've added more machines to sort the trash faster.
The plan is to use some of the cleaned-up land for forests, waste facilities, and other purposes, as suggested by a court.
They are also building new plants to turn trash into energy and deal with dairy waste.
MCD aims to reclaim Delhi's landfill sites by 2026-2027.
Additional trommels were added at each dumpsite to increase waste processing capacity.
The MCD is utilizing reclaimed land based on NGT's suggested model.
The NGT suggested converting a portion of each dumpsite into dense forest and integrated waste management infrastructure.
MCD is expanding waste-to-energy plants and setting up biomethanation plants.
