Botswana Female Cheetah Moved to Gandhi Sagar Sanctuary, Madhya Pradesh
A female cheetah named CCB2 was moved from Kuno National Park to Gandhi Sagar Wildlife Sanctuary.
Both places are in Madhya Pradesh.
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav released her into the sanctuary on Sunday.
CCB2 came to India from Botswana.
Gandhi Sagar now has two female and two male cheetahs.
Officials hope the cheetahs will form a new family there.
They chose CCB2 because she is younger than another female, Nirva.
Officials also want cheetahs from different backgrounds to help build a more varied population.
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav released three-year-old female cheetah CCB2 at Gandhi Sagar Wildlife Sanctuary on Sunday.
CCB2 was moved from Kuno National Park, where she had been brought from Botswana with eight other cheetahs.
Gandhi Sagar now has four cheetahs: two females and two males.
Officials selected CCB2 over six-year-old Nirva because she is younger and could help create a more diverse gene pool.
The combined cheetah population in Kuno and Gandhi Sagar is reported to be 56.
