Karnataka CM Shivakumar Secures Vijay’s Visit Postponement Amid Cauvery Tensions
Karnataka’s chief minister, D K Shivakumar, asked Tamil Nadu’s chief minister, C Joseph Vijay, to delay his visit to Bengaluru because of a big water fight called the Cauvery dispute.
They had a big meeting with many politicians to say they don’t want a big protest called a bandh.
Karnataka agreed to give a small amount of water to Tamil Nadu as ordered by a water authority.
They also talked about a big dam project called Mekedatu that both states disagree on.
Shivakumar said the state will keep drinking water first and will follow the law and court decisions.
Shivakumar asked Tamil Nadu CM Vijay to postpone his visit to Bengaluru amid the Cauvery dispute.
An all‑party meeting in Bengaluru affirmed Karnataka’s commitment to farmers and opposed a statewide bandh.
Karnataka agreed to release 3,500 cusecs of water to Tamil Nadu for 15 days as directed by the CWMA.
The Mekedatu balancing reservoir project remains contested, with the Supreme Court already delivering a judgment.
Karnataka will prioritize drinking water, consult legal experts, and monitor rainfall before further action.
