Karnataka Police Exam Walkout Over OMR Serial Mismatch
In Karnataka, some people were taking a test to become police officers.
They thought the numbers on the answer sheets had to match the numbers on the test papers, but that was not true.
Because of this confusion, many of them left the exam hall.
The exam officials explained that the numbers do not need to match and that the answer sheets have separate fields for the correct codes.
The police stopped the people from re‑entering the hall to keep the test fair.
The exam board gave extra time to finish the test and warned people not to spread false information on social media.
Candidates walked out of a Karnataka police recruitment exam after claiming OMR answer sheets’ serial numbers didn’t match question papers.
The Karnataka Examinations Authority clarified that matching serial numbers is not required and the OMR sheet has separate fields for question paper series and version codes.
Deputy Commissioner K Anand said candidates who left were denied re‑entry to preserve exam integrity, and police used minimal force to control the disturbance.
The exam was held at Sharadamba Pre‑University College, one of 61 centres in Vijayapura district, with 432 candidates scheduled and only 120 completing the test.
KEA granted extra time to compensate for the delay and warned against spreading misinformation on social media.
