New CSIR-NIO Ocean Research Facility Opens in Vizag
A new ocean research center called CSIR-NIO has been opened in Visakhapatnam, India.
This center will help scientists study the ocean, especially the Bay of Bengal.

The center will focus on marine geological and geophysical studies, including bathymetric mapping and tectonic analysis.
Research will support coastal and offshore industries and contribute to national policy-making in coastal regulation, disaster management, and climate change adaptation.
The facility will also support major national programmes such as deep-sea exploration, monsoon studies, and integrated coastal and marine area management.
