Maharashtra bans 114 books, magazines glorifying terror outfits
Maharashtra is a state in India, and its government has made a new rule.
The rule bans 114 books and magazines.
These books and magazines come from groups that the government calls terrorist organizations.
Terrorism means using fear and violence to hurt people for a cause.
The government says these books make violence sound okay and can give people bad ideas.
Some of the groups are called Islamic State and Al Qaeda.
Before making the rule, police and security experts studied the materials.
They found that the books and magazines encouraged people to join the groups and act against the country.
The government made the ban official with a public notice on August 6, and it covers both paper and digital copies.
The government wants this rule to keep people safe and keep peace across the country.
Maharashtra's home department issued a gazette notification on August 6 banning 114 items of literature from terrorist organizations.
The banned material includes magazines and books linked to Islamic State, Islamic State in Khorasan Province, Hizb-ul-Mujahideen Pir Panjal Regiment, and Al Qaeda (AQIS).
Officials said the literature glorifies violent extremism and jihad, promotes radicalisation, and threatens India's sovereignty, integrity, and public order.
Banned items include 44 issues of Voice of Khurasan magazine, The Revolutionary Resurgence, Nawai Gazawa e Hind, and School Of Yusuf, in physical or digital form.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said the ban was issued under the new Maharashtra Public Security Act, based on intelligence inputs, cyber surveillance, and ATS investigations.
