Food Poisoning Cost India Triple Jumper Gold
Selva Prabhu is a runner from India who jumps very far in a sport called triple jump.
He was at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow and jumped 16.52 meters, which earned him a bronze medal.
He wanted to win gold, but he got sick from food poisoning during the event.
Because he was not feeling well, he could not jump as far as he usually does.
He thinks that if he had jumped close to his best distance of 17.05 meters, he would have won gold.
Now he is focusing on staying healthy and getting ready for the next big competition, the Asian Games.
Selva Prabhu finished third in men's triple jump at the Commonwealth Games, missing gold by 20 cm.
He jumped 16.52m, behind Praveen Chithravel (16.58m) and Jordon Scott (16.72m).
Prabhu said a jump near his personal best of 17.05m would have secured gold.
He attributes the shortfall to illness and food poisoning during the competition.
He is concentrating on health and preparation for the upcoming Asian Games.
