Andhra Pradesh Seeks More Krishna Water, Citing El Nino
Andhra Pradesh wants permission to use more water from the Krishna River.
It asked for 47 tmc ft of water by October 31.
The state says it needs the water mainly for drinking purposes.
It also says El Nino and a weak monsoon may reduce future water supplies.
The water would come from the Srisailam and Nagarjunasagar reservoirs.
Andhra Pradesh says it has used less water this season than Telangana.
The Krishna River Management Board asked Telangana to comment on the request.
The board plans to discuss the issue at its next meeting.
