Women Make Up 43% of India's Ayush Workforce
Ayush is a group of traditional and complementary health services in India.
A new report says women make up 43 out of every 100 workers in this sector.
In some parts, such as spas and wellness resorts, women make up more than half of the workers.
Women also make up a majority of workers in educational institutes, day-care centres and hospitals.
The sector was worth about US$36.92 billion in FY2024-25.
It supported around 1.76 million livelihoods.
Many of those livelihoods are in local and standalone clinics.
The report says the growing sector is creating more work opportunities, including for women.
Women account for 43% of the overall workforce in India's Ayush services sector, the Ministry of Ayush said.
Female representation exceeds 60% in spas and wellness resorts, and reaches 58% in educational institutes.
Women make up 57% of day-care centre workers and 53% of hospital workers.
The sector was valued at US$36.92 billion in FY2024-25 and directly supported about 1.76 million livelihoods.
Standalone clinics generated an estimated $16.21 billion, while clinics and day-care centres together accounted for more than 70% of sector revenue.
