India Cuts Diesel and ATF Export Levies Again
India has lowered the taxes charged on diesel and aviation fuel sent to other countries.
The diesel export levy is now Rs 16 per litre instead of Rs 20.
The levy on aviation turbine fuel, or ATF, is now Rs 10.50 per litre instead of Rs 15.
The tax on exported petrol remains Rs 0.50 per litre.
These new rates began on October 1, 2026.
They apply only when fuel is exported, not when it is sold inside India.
Therefore, the change alone does not make petrol or diesel cheaper for Indian consumers.
The government reviews these levies every two weeks using international crude oil and fuel prices.
The diesel export levy was reduced to Rs 16 per litre from Rs 20.
The ATF export levy was cut to Rs 10.50 per litre from Rs 15.
The petrol export duty remains unchanged at Rs 0.50 per litre.
The revised rates took effect on October 1, 2026, for the new fortnight.
The changes apply only to exports and do not reduce domestic petrol or diesel taxes.
