Eye Doctor Warns Against Sleeping with Mascara On
Dr. Jennifer Tsai, an eye doctor from New York, recently shared a video on Instagram explaining why it's important to remove your mascara before going to sleep.
She said that if you leave mascara on overnight, tiny flakes can collect under your eyelids and form hard lumps.
These lumps can rub against your eye every time you blink, which can cause irritation, redness, or even scratches on the surface of your eye.
Dr. Tsai advises always removing your makeup before bed, double cleansing your lashes, and choosing mascaras that are not waterproof.
She also suggests using tubing mascara, which is easier to remove and forms tiny tubes around your lashes instead of a wet film.
Leaving mascara on overnight can cause tiny flakes to collect under the eyelids, forming hard lumps.
These lumps can irritate the cornea with each blink, leading to discomfort, redness, or corneal scratches.
Dr. Jennifer Tsai advises always removing makeup before bed and double cleansing the eyelashes.
Avoid waterproof mascaras as they are harder to remove completely.
Tubing mascara is recommended as it forms tiny tubes around lashes and is easier to remove.
