French Jeweler Robbed of Over $1 Million in Hostage Heist
Imagine some robbers in France decided to steal valuable necklaces and rings from a jewelry store.
On a Wednesday, they went into a shop in a town called Roubaix and scared the owner and his wife, making them hostages for a little while.
Then, they took all the shiny jewelry, which was worth a lot of money, maybe over a million dollars!
The police are now looking for these robbers and investigating the crime.
Also on the same day, other people tried to break into a safe at the post office, but they only found empty bags inside, and some people were caught.
This happened not too long after a very big theft at a famous museum in Paris, the Louvre, where many jewels were stolen.
Thieves stole jewelry valued between $580,000 and $1.2 million from a boutique in Roubaix, France.
The jeweller and his wife were briefly held hostage during the robbery on Wednesday.
Police are investigating the incident as kidnapping, organized crime, and armed extortion.
In a separate incident on the same day, a post office safe was blown up, but the bag inside contained only empty bags.
The heists follow a high-profile $102 million jewelry theft from the Louvre museum last month.
